Every project on this site starts from the same refusal: a fast answer already exists, and it is not good enough. What follows is usually a few years spent on the data — the senses, the sources, the taxonomy — so that using the result takes seconds and then hands you back to whatever you were doing.

They have two things in common. The hard part is always the data, not the interface — being right matters more than being fast, and the finished thing is worth nothing if it cannot be trusted. And none of them are built to be opened often. A dictionary you notice is a bad dictionary.
