Bell
In designFive bells a day
A bell that rings five times a day and is silent the rest of it. No streaks, no scores, no history to review. It returns you to the room you are in, and then it is over.
1What it is
To write
What it is. The name is still open — this page renders whatever content/projects.ts says, so renaming it is one line there.
2Why the fast answer fails
To write
The fast answer is unlimited notifications. Write out what that costs: a timer that can interrupt at any moment is a timer you have to manage, and managing it is the opposite of what it is for.
3The hard part
To write
Not the data here but the discipline — which is why this project passes the admission test on refusal rather than on precision. The hard part is everything left out and staying out.
4Product decisions
To write
Three to five decisions with their trade-offs. Candidates: five bells rather than a chosen number; no streaks, scores or history, which removes the whole retention loop; silence as the default state rather than the gap between events.
5Where it is now
To write
Honest status: in design. What exists, what does not.
6Screens and artifacts
To write
Sketches, the sound, the one screen.
