Plaqat is open to anyone from today. The web app has been running at plaqat.app through a closed beta; the iOS build is now on TestFlight and takes about a minute to install. Both carry the same listings.
What is in it: roughly four and a half thousand upcoming events across about two thousand Paris venues, gathered from thirty-odd sources — the venues themselves, not one aggregator. Concerts, exhibitions, theatre, screenings. Nearly every venue is geocoded, so an evening can be planned by distance rather than by the name of an arrondissement.
What is deliberately not in it. There is no infinite surface to scroll: following an artist and saving a list are ways of getting back to something you already chose, not a river to sit beside. There is no ticketing — when you have found the thing, you leave for the venue's own site, which is the point. The only notification the app will ever send you is the one you asked for, when tickets open for something you saved.
The beta is a beta. Some venues still have no scraper of their own and their programmes are thinner than they should be; a few event pages have dates that survived a bad parse. If you find one, tell me — a wrong date is worse than a missing one.
