Plaqat
The Paris worth finding before it sells out.
Plaqat shows what is actually on in Paris tonight: concerts, exhibitions, theatre, screenings. The listings are gathered from thirty-odd venue sources rather than copied from one aggregator — which is why they contain what the aggregator does not.
Les pépites culturelles de Paris
Why
An aggregator shows what was sent to it
A big city aggregator has a bias built into it: it is good at showing the venues that know how to file an announcement and bother to do it. A small hall that posts its programme on its own site and nowhere else does not exist for that aggregator — and that is usually where the interesting thing is happening.
So Plaqat is built the other way round: not one shared pipe, but a scraper per venue that visits its own listings every day. That costs more to maintain and is more honest about the result.
When the same event arrives from several sources, the one closer to the venue wins: its time, price and line-up are more accurate.
Inside
How you use it
The venues are the sources
Philharmonie, the Opéra, jazz clubs, museums, festivals. Each venue has its own scraper that reads its own listings page.
Your own agenda
Save events, build lists and share them. Sign-in is a link in an email — no password.
Map
Almost every venue is geocoded, so an evening can be planned by distance rather than by the name of the arrondissement.
Search that forgives
Typos, missing accents, half a surname — the search still finds the concert or the hall you meant.
Artists and venues
Follow a performer or a place: new dates arrive in your feed instead of passing you by.
No ticketing inside
Plaqat is about finding, not selling. To buy a ticket you leave for the venue’s own site.

Where the project is going
The near term is closing the last major venues that still have no scraper of their own, and getting the app to the state where it is pleasant to use on a phone, on the métro, on the way home.
If you run a venue and want your programme to appear in Plaqat, write to me and I will add it.
